Compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFL bulbs) consume up to 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs while retaining the warm, inviting soft light of traditional incandescent bulbs.

You should divide the incandescent bulb's wattage through 5 in order to determine what CFL wattage you need. For example a 20 watt CFL replaces a 100 watt incandescent bulb.
